چکیده

Background Abnormal protein expression of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors essential subunits (NR1, NR2) and of associated post-synaptic density proteins (PSD-95, PSD-93) were observed in schizophrenic patients (postmortem studies) [1,2]. NMDA receptors containing NNR2A/B subunit associate in vivo at synapses with PSD-93 and PSD-95 [3]. In the present study, we have silenced the expression of NR1 and/or NR2 proteins in vivo with the goal of assessing the influence of that protein’s alteration on the prepulse inhibition of acoustic startle reaction (PPI) and on the expression of related PSD-95/PSD-93 proteins.

Morphine-Induced Analgesic Tolerance Effect on Gene Expression of the NMDA Receptor Subunit 1 in Rat Striatum and Prefrontal Cortex

Introduction: Morphine is a potent analgesic but its continual use results in analgesic tolerance. Mechanisms of this tolerance remain to be clarified. However, changes in the functions of μ-opioid and N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors have been proposed in morphine tolerance. We examined changes in gene expression of the NMDA receptor subunit 1 (NR1) at mRNA levels i...

Effect of acute exposure to ethanol on distribution of NR1 subunit of NMDA receptor of glutamate in cerebral cortex of chick embryo

Introduction: There is considerable evidence that glutamate-mediated excitatory neurotransmission plays an important role in mediating the behavioral actions of acutely administered ethanol. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of acute ethanol exposure on NR1 subunit of NMDA (n-methyl-d-aspartate) receptor distribution in the cerebral cortex of chick embryo on the 10th...

بررسی تأثیر محرومیت از بینایی طی دوره بحرانی تکامل مغز بر بیان زیرواحدهای گیرنده NMDA در هیپوکامپ موش صحرایی

Background and purpose: Visual deprivation during critical period of brain development impairs structure and function of NMDA receptors in visual cortex. Parts of visual signals go to the hippocampus through the visual cortex. Therefore, this study aimed at investigating the effects of visual deprivation during critical period of brain development on NMDA receptor subunits expression in rats’ h...

Retention of NMDA receptor NR2 subunits in the lumen of endoplasmic reticulum in targeted NR1 knockout mice.

Glutamate is a major excitatory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system, and the N-methyl-D-aspartate-selective glutamate receptor (NR) consisting of the NR1 subunit and an NR2 or NR3 subunit plays crucial roles in synaptic transmission, plasticity, and learning and memory. By using a knockout mouse strain, in which the NR1 gene deletion is primarily targeted to the CA1 pyramid...

NMDA di-heteromeric receptor populations and associated proteins in rat hippocampus.

Subunit composition of NMDA receptors (NMDARs) determines a range of physiological properties, downstream signaling effects, and binding partners. Differential localization of NR2A- or NR2B-containing NMDARs within the neuron and subunit-specific protein associations may explain differences in NR2A and NR2B contributions to synaptic plasticity and excitotoxic cell death. This question is compli...
